Abstract
Innovation is currently one of the most important inducers of competitive success, and organizational being considered as an imperative in the post-bureaucratic discourse companies. At the beginning of a conceptual framework related to knowledge and learning as management engine technology, it can design a technology surveillance and competitive intelligence process oriented to various requirements. This review describes the presence of technology surveillance in the innovation process, role of competitive intelligence today, UNE 166006:2001 norm, mining process technology and its application in patent analysis. Finally, concludes that this tool can be used as a pillar for the observation of the environment and as a resource for building competitive advantage in R&D organizations.
