Abstract

Factorial design of experiments was used to determine the processing parameters of preparing an antibacterial polymer material based on PVC and Cu nanoparticles. Variables like percentage of nanoparticles and the mixing speed were studied; response variable was the antibacterial capacity and copper migration towards the middle. The sample prepared at 4000 rpm with 0.5% of nanoparticles showed a better response, reaching a 13.8% copper migration, this results correspond to an effective antibacterial capability.
