Introduction
Removal of industrial textile-derived dyes is a major problem. Adsorption by activated carbon (AC) and heterogeneous photocatalysis are two of the main methodologies widely studied to solve this problem. Due to their low cost, easily tailoring of surface complexes, and the ability to induce photo-Fenton reactions, Fe-based materials are of major interest for the treatment of pollutants in aqueous phasework. Keeping this in mind, AC-supported phosphate/Fe-based nanocomposites were prepared and the photocatalytic degradation of methylene blue was studied as target molecule.
